Weekly Buzz

Origami Bags are made from two fat quarters and drawstring.  Whether you use cording or make your own fabric drawstring, these bags are so versatile. We have 3 open spaces for this workshop on this coming Monday morning at 10:00 a.m.  If you would like to join us, click HERE to RSVP.  However, if you cannot make it Monday, we have another class scheduled for November 6, 2019. Follow the same link and just click the appropriate class date. This workshop will be led by Wallie Y. and this is her own design.  She will walk you through her process and you should have time to make at least two bags!

Gift giving season is right around the corner and these bags would make a great present. It would also be cool to use them to be the wrapping for a jewelry item or some other trinket you may fit inside.  Many times these are used for travelling and when you open the drawstring, the bag will lay flat.

Another good idea has been to gift baked goods in them as well, just wrap the cookies in parchment paper, press n'seal or zip-locs and place inside the bag.

NEW---->

I will begin featuring some make and take classes where I will provide a list of supplies, you show us and we make a project in 2.5 hours or so.  The class fee will be $10.00 and if you purchase your supplies here in shop, you will receive a $5.00 credit back to your account as a thank you!  (The 10% discount will still apply as usual.)

Some of the items we may make and take will be Christmas Present Pot Holder,  Gift Bags, Zipper Pouches, Fabric Bowls, Mug Rug Ideas, and Scissor Holder Project.

These are just a few of my ideas for make and takes to get ready for gifting.

I will keep you posted on the dates and times.  I plan to do these classes on a Saturday evening at 4:00 p.m. when the shop closes.

2020 brings us a NEW YEAR, with ideas, new projects and a new spin on STRIP CLUB! Get fun--funky--and have a blast! Patterns for 2020 have already been selected. Here are some hints...a massive star, braids, chaos and just comfortable and casual. I can tell you we will not be doing a patriotic quilt in 2020. I will be focusing more on color theory and the color wheel. We will be diving in to a little more exploration of hues, tones, contrasts and compliments. The beauty of this is that the strips are going to be mystery to us all and that means me. There will be will multiple different colorways of strip sets. They will be placed into sacks and put in to a basket, each person will reach in a draw a bag. We will all have the same pattern, however, we will not have the same strips. I believe this will take our creativity and inspiration to new heights. What happens if you don't like your strips? Do you really not like it or can you be creative enough challenge yourself to select background and borders so that you will be surprised? Is someone in the group willing to switch with you? All good questions. Remember, I will be selecting the best possible strips I believe will work with that pattern. I have no intention of giving you something that would not quilt out beautifully. A pattern is a suggestion, a guideline. You can change, tweak and make that pattern your own. Now most importantly, deadlines. I have to have a cut off time of 20 days prior to place the order so that means I will have to ask that everyone who wants to participate signs up in advance.
