I hope you are are enjoying the cooler weather. They say we will be back up in the 80's this week but at least we had a little taste of fall. What am I talking about? Texas can have all four seasons in one day.
Monday's are special... I offer a special discount on Monday's for guild member's who have proof of membership. I do this because I believe those people doing charity work deserve a little extra! It's my way of honoring those who put in some time and effort to help local groups in need.
This week we will have Tuesday and Friday Open Sew from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Come on in and work at your pace on these days. There's no set schedule, just enjoy some time working on a project in a group environment. It will always bring a smile to your face!

Friday of this next week I will be hosting Demo Day with Tucker Trimmer I, Magic Wand and I will be showing the technique. Bring a stack of at least (12-16) 5" squares, random and scrappy. After I demo the tools, you can make the blocks we discuss as well as look at some cool examples of what can be done with HST's (half-square-triangles). Just like last Friday when we worked on Log Cabin's you can build a quilt from this one block alone and make your own pattern on the fly. This is a free demo & discussion however, RSVP is mandatory. You will see a link below to sign up.
Mr. Hayward Irwin drops by each month for all of your sharpening needs. He will sharpen scissors for $4.25 a pair. He also sharpens knives, shears and other gardening tools. Please drop off your blades the day prior to his arrival and pick them up after 2:00 p.m. on his scheduled sharpening date. You will need cash or check payable to him. This is just a courtesy, please understand that I do not accept credit cards on his behalf.

Miniatures are a great way to show off your skills and techniques as well as a practice your machine quilting no matter if it is by walking foot or free motion. There is a little bit of homework to be done. 1. If you would cut 16 - 1.5" Squares in your background color. 2. Then if you would would cut 16 background & 16 print squares, 2" would be great, because you will be putting those together to make half square triangles, You will need a total of 32 - 1.5" half square triangles where the combo is background/print. 3. The if you would cut 16 - 2" squares of your print fabrics and these will be used to make 16 - 1.5" half square triangles where the combo is print/print. THE BEST OPTION ON HALF SQUARE TRIANGLES IS THE TUCKER TRIMMER, IF YOU NEED HELP, STOP BY THE SHOP AND SEE TRISH! The remainder of the cutting on your background and prints will be done in the class.
